Universal Music New Zealand engaged JD Sports to sponsor the Aotearoa Music Awards.
For the second year running, JD Sports had exclusive ownership of the coveted People’s Choice Award. This included a unique voting mechanism that engaged fans nationwide to vote for their favourite artist of the year. The winning artist was crowned the JD Sports People’s Choice Award on the night in front of music industry leaders and broadcast nationwide across TVNZ+.
To further amplify the partnership, UMNZ engaged four music tastemakers to wear the brand on the night, where a dedicated JD Sports host captured interviews on the official red carpet to further increase JD Sports’ relevancy and capture consumers’ attention across social platforms.
This strategic partnership gained media attention and further localised the global fashion brand through the lens of music culture in New Zealand.
